Coins in various denominations under Queen Elizabeth were issued in Cyprus in 1955 and 1957 as shown below. As of 1955 the monetary currency in Cyprus changed from the 180 piastres for 1 pound to the 100o mils for 1 pound.

THREE MILS (BRONZE)

Obverse: Crowned head to right and in a circle the inscription: QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.

Reverse: A fish, the figure 3 above and in a circle the inscription + GOVERNMENT OF CYPRUS + THREE MILS + 1955 +

FIVE MILS (BRONZE)

 

Obverse: Crowned head to right and in a circle the inscription: QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.

Reverse: Ingot bearer, the figure 5 below and in a circle the inscription + GOVERNMENT OF CYPRUS + FIVE MILS + 1955 +  (or 1956)

ONE HUNDRED MILS (COPPER-NICKEL)

Obverse: Crowned head to right and in a circle the inscription: QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.

Reverse: Ancient galley, the figure 100 left of the masts and in a circle the inscription + GOVERNMENT OF CYPRUS + ONE HUNDRED MILS + 1955 + (or 1957)

Of the 1957 coins only 5000 were circulated, another 5000 were sold to collectors in luxurious wallets numbered 1 to 5000. The rest were melted down by the Royal Mint.
